It was MUDI. But it was dry as hell. The ground was cracked and dry and it felt like Bonehorn was the only thing that could loosen it up. But two lackluster games to start the Saturday nearly killed our drive to play and despite the most involved
and enthusiastic sideline presence we've had the pleasure to experience as a team ( a constant for the weekend I might add) we nearly lost our way and our first true test, a tough matchup against perennial rival Climax, found us flat four the first half. We found our Bone and Horn for the second half but it was too little. And we suffered our only loss of the day. A 4-1 Saturday put us in the quarterfinals Sunday and we started the day with what truly should have been a run through against a YCC team from Minnesota. Kudos to YCC because those players will be (and some already are) studs in the next few years but we
really had to grind out a win against a team we were superior to in every category. But onward Bonehorn, always onward. and in the Semis we finally did it. It was a complete half and we dominated a skilled but fatigued Minnesota team taking a 7-4 lead into half. We managed to squander in the lost chance sense of the word the lead in the second and found ourselves trailing 9-10. Finally, for the last 10 points we saw a glimpse (and only a glimpse) at what Bonehorn is. We slapped on sick Ds and found a little flow and generally balled our way to Universe point. And then Ultimate happened: They threw a huck to their stud, our stud defender was on his shit tip to tip and a true fifty fifty jump ball grazed off our fingertips and into the waiting hands of the now victorious Minnesota receiver. Damn. Damn Damn Damn. But a tie for third and a killer sideline and really
spectacular play from all rookie Horns are things we can build from. All in all a good weekend, full of honeywhiskey and a triple full moon (thumbs down, by the way.) And another car fire. That's Mudi for Bonehorn. Fire and Brimstone and a whole lot of heat and I hope you feel that fire burning inside because we're stoking these coals all the way to Regionals.
Next stop: the Cooler. And we'll burn it to the ground. Enough smoldering. Let's blaze!
